Our Vacation Rental Homes in Sablet, Provence

Sablet Village, Vaucluse, Provence, France
Maison des Pelerins and La Baume des Pelerins, or "les Pelerins" as we affectionately refer to our dream come true, of owning our own homes in Provence, are located in the heart of the Vaucluse. We thoroughly enjoy hearing from our guests to "les Pelerins" that they feel they are spending time in their own home in Provence. To be a part of village life, Sablet is the perfect place. "Les Pelerins" dates back to the time when the Popes administered the Catholic Church from Avignon, with a Papal Vice-Legat having a residence right here in Sablet. Our neighbor's home was the Vice-Legat's residence. Ours was one of the buildings that housed visitors and pilgrims and was connected to it, as we can see from the internal portals, and the front door of Maison des Pelerins. Hence the name - Pelerins is French for pilgrims. I hope this Blog will help you get to know Provence and live your Provencal Dream.

Spring Flowers in Sablet

Spring garden fever!

The sun is shining and the air is warm ... the weather in Provence has been spectacular and I have heard from our guests that the garden at Maison des Pelerins ("Jardin Extraordinaire" - inspired by Charles Trenet's song) looks great - I can't wait to see the pictures!  I'll post the new pics as soon as I receive them ... but in the meantime ... here is a blog that I have previously posted ... it's always nice to enjoy spring flowers.

What a way to start the week!

Bright and early on Monday morning, we received an email from a wonderful fellow "Sabletain"
who cares for our "jardin exraordinaire".

He had some suggestions for the new seasons plantings and .........
........... some pictures of les premiere floresons de Printemps - the first blooms of Spring.

Voici ........ Our garden has started to bloom  ......

Lilacs against a background of the old church wall ......

Bright blue Wisteria winds its way along the arbor by the kitchen doors .......

Waiting for  lavender, roses and hollyhocks to bloom ........
Amongst his great suggestions was building a small "potager"
- two small raised beds where we can plant some tomatoes, aubergines, bell peppers and strawberries - together with the herbs that are already growing ...... a real  Provencal welcome to Maison des Pelerins.
I can't wait to see it!
